#37 FISHING WITH MY LOVES

I took the kiddos fishing this afternoon on Fool Hollow Lake while Mr. InstantPot a.k.a. Steve stayed behind to make his beef stew.

We have always had a marriage that is not defined by stereotypical gender roles. Love it! We both share the job of cooking... ok, I will be honest, he cooks way more than me. We both do yard work on the property & mow. And we both share the jobs of raising the kids. Some nights he tucks in the kids, other nights I do, and some nights we each take a kiddo. I love how it's balanced. What I really love tonight is the dinner that is coming. Yum yum, thank you hon!

While he prepped dinner, Sierra, Alex, and I hit the trail for the lake. The moment we arrived at the lakeshore we realized there was wind, so we headed back up to the campsite to get jackets & our lifejackets that we had forgotten. Back to the lake we traveled again & spotted two docks. The one we'd seen earlier was not officially attached to the shore so the kids were reluctant to go on it. The two other docks are attached to large concrete blocks which convinced the kids that it is safe. After buckling life jackets, I sat down on the dock with their tackle box and put their lures on their lines, with bobbers, and we found a calm spot in the middle of the dock to drop into.

After what seemed like a hundred years to the kids (10 minutes or so) they asked to move to another location & instead fished the outer perimeter of the dock and practiced casting. Alex quickly learned that the lake is very shallow, as he caught a piece of green grass. Woo hoo! We joked that he caught something. After a few more casts, the wind really started to pick up and the kids found themselves holding their baseball hats on their heads to prevent them from flying into the air. "Time to go!" they said.
Even though it was a shorter adventure than we had planned for, it was fun! I promised that we will continue to find other places to fish at on our trip ♡
