#38 FRIDAY... DAY 27!

Stay or Go? That was the question this morning. Fool Hollow is really a fantastic spot. Quiet, beautiful, and warm & dry.

The kids have been waking up around 6:30 am. Many of you know that for Sierra and Alex, that is sleeping in! Sierra's new routine is to do her business as the sun rises and then wakes us up by asking for a final check...that is what gets us out of bed these days. Ah, the routines of life on the road.

Sierra has been sleeping above the cab. Steve lays a dinette cushion next to her and secures it with a cam strap to prevent her from rolling off in the middle of the night. Works great!

Steve and I talked about the benefits of staying and going... and ultimately, we decided to stay. The kids love this recreation area. They can ride bikes safely, roll in their Heely shoes, and love that we are near a lake and other people. We looked online at the booking page for Fool Hollow and saw that a couple of non-electric sites were available, but they were super close to others. I am not a fan of sites that are side by side without any privacy. So, after a cup of coffee, Steve hopped on his mountain bike and rode up to the check-in station to see if there were are good sites available for walk up reservations. Score! The Ranger told him there was a great site just around the corner from us, so we paid for one more night ($35) and enjoyed another relaxing morning.

Alex is working hard to master all his addition math facts & is really getting the hang of using the Math Learning Wrap Ups. He says he is not a huge fan of math these days, but still does his work and is improving his recall of facts. Way to go buddy!

For the wrap ups, depending on which of your hands is dominant, you hold the plastic key in one hand and use the other hand to wrap the string around the key as you solve the problems. We have addition, subtraction, and multiplication sets. Our focus is on addition. I love these way more than old school flash cards.
After math time, I spent a couple hours doing things such as paying bills, checking on the date of Sierra's group dance performance, making summer camping reservations, and continuing to set up my calendar on my phone. For years, I have always written things down on paper... but this week decided to make the move further into the world of technology & now carry my calendar on my phone.

It took us 30 seconds to drive to our new site, and it is even better than the last one. We have quiet couple on our left and a new to rv'ing family on our left. Sierra and Alex were happy to have friends to play with. I pulled out the huge paper roll from IKEA, secured the ends to the table, and the kids went to town drawing pictures on it. Alex played with making a fire for hours, while Sierra and her new girlfriends played.
Since they were occupied and Steve was happy to be outside chatting with the Dad, I showered and said to Steve, "Olivia Pope is calling."  Then I curled up with my laptop to watch last night's episodes of Scandal and Grey's Anatomy. I think I just needed some time to be alone today. We have been together in this space of around 270 square feet for just about a month now and have done really well. We are about 31 ish feet long & 8.5 feet wide. I think when we return home I will go through shock being in a 2,600 sq. foot home.
What I've also come to re-realize this weekend is that I really love, and need, my quiet/alone regroup time as well. Steve is super powered friendly man who will go meet new people when he's walking the dogs or setting up our camp. He loves the stories they swap and learning why people are traveling. I do too, but not all day long. When I saw him standing in a large group with the kids out in the road today, I thought... aaaaah, I will be staying inside a bit longer. Mama just needed to chill.

Oh, and remember the man, Joe Sparrow, that we met a couple days ago? He put the picture of Sierra standing on his bike up on his facebook page and made a little post about meeting us. Pretty fun to see that. Love the picture of little adventure girl ♡
